Indian National Cricket team players; Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul can now breathe a sigh of relief, with the Committee of Administrators (CoA) deciding to lift the interim suspensions imposed on the duo with immediate effect; two weeks after the two players were sent back home disgraced from the then ongoing Australia tour.

The two cricketers had been suspended from the team, for their inappropriate comments made on the national television during the infamous talk show hosted by filmmaker Karan Johar; ‘Koffee with Karan'.

A statement issued by the CoA; read," The above matter and decision has been taken with the concurrence of the Learned Amicus Curiae, Mr. P.S. Narasimha. In view of the above, the suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 is immediately lifted pending appointment and adjudication of the allegations by the BCCI Ombudsman."

The enquiry against the two cricketers; however, is still pending for which an ombudsman is to be appointed by the Supreme Court. The apex court has listed the matter tentatively for February 5.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya is likely to join team India in New Zealand, and Rahul might feature in the domestic circuit or play for India A in the ongoing home series against England Lions.

The idea of letting the players get on with the game was first mooted by BCCI acting president CK Khanna, who wanted the suspensions to be lifted pending inquiry.

Pandya's comments like," When I lost my virginity, I came home and said, 'Main karke aya hai aaj (I had sex today)'. At a party my parents asked me 'acha tera wala (women) kaun sa hai [who is your interest here?] so I said yeh, yeh, yeh (pointing out women)' and they were like 'waah proud of you beta'," on the show; were detested by one and all.

Also; breathing a sigh of relief is the show host and filmmaker Karan Johar; who was quoted during an interaction with News18 saying," "They deserved another chance and I am glad the board has given them this chance. That was an unfortunate thing that happened on the show, I was responsible and if people were offended I am ready to apologize. The mistake is entirely mine and I am apologetic for what happened."
