Boman Irani launches own production house 'Irani Movietone'

Boman Irani has become a name to reckon with; after working in the industry for over two decades. And now; the 59-year-old actor on Thursday has launched his own production house under the name of “Irani MovieTone" but he contends that at heart, he still remains an actor.

Boman Irani has become a name to reckon with; after working in the industry for over two decades. And now; the 59-year-old actor on Thursday has launched his own production house under the name of "Irani MovieTone" but he contends that at heart, he still remains an actor.


Speaking to the media on this occasion; the versatile actor was quoted saying," I will always be an actor. It is just that I have found a new craft, writing. Ever since I was a kid I used to write but was writing badly."


The launch of Irani's production house; was held in Mumbai, in the presence of Oscar-winning screenwriter of the movie Birdman, Alexander Dinelaris Jr., and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan.


The ‘3 Idiots' actor further said," Over the years, I decided to learn the craft by reading books and I met Alex in New York. He is like my brother. We discussed my script and he encouraged me. When I met Alex and his friends, I learned so much. It is important that we share someone of his craft, intelligence, and simplicity here. I am glad he agreed to come here."


Amitabh Bachchan finally unveiled the universal logo to the actor-producers latest production venture. 


Instead of going by the trend and following the launch of his production house by a massive party; the ‘Munabhai MBBS' actor arranged for a day-long writing workshop by Alexander and had invited writers, directors, and students from filmmaking schools to be a part of the workshop. 


Speaking to the media on the occasion; Mr. Bachchan expressed his desire to work with Boman Irani soon and was quoted saying," I wish to work with Irani again soon. And please don't upstage me in our future films".


Mr. Bachchan further said," There are very few of us who are actually brave enough to start something like Boman has, my congratulations to this wonderful company that you have launched. May this forever succeed and produce many more writers that we so desperately need."


Boman Irani along with his wife Zenobia; felicitated the Bollywood veteran with a Pashmina shawl that has the traditional Parsi Gara embroidered in 15 Indian and foreign languages.


Also present at the do were industry folks like Ronnie Screwvala, Dia Mirza, Farhan Akhtar, Kunal Vijaykar, Anjum Rajabali, Irawati Harshe, Feroze Abbas Khan and Roshan Abbas.
