Many filmmakers have been rooting for sports biopic for its resonance at the box office. The commercial viability of the same has propelled filmmakers to rest their faith on the genre. However, the trend won't fade away so soon until filmmakers spun innovative content.

Before Shabbir Boxwala rolls out his Vikram Batra biopic with Dharma Productions, he is all set to roll out a sports biopic based on Rugby which will star Abhay Deol as the Rugby coach. The film will be co produced by Prashant Shah. Informing about the same, a source close to the development said to a leading daily, "It's a sports-based film called Jungle Cry. Abhay plays the role of a real-life coach Rudraksha Jena, who is based in Bhubaneshwar. He had led an under-14 team to victory at the International School Rugby Tournament in London in 2007. The film was initially offered to Abhishek Bachchan, but talks with him didn't materialise. Later, Abhay was roped in."

Abhay Deol is becoming skilled at the game while he is getting trained for the movie. Adding further, the source said, "The team will shoot the inspirational human drama in Odisha. It is expected to go on floors within a month."

Earlier too, Shabbir has collaborated with other Deol brothers for movies like Sunny (Vishwatma, 1992) and Bobby (Gupt, 1997).

On being quizzed about the impending Rugby biopic, the Los Angeles based producer Prashant Shah said, "We will announce the film in two weeks. We can't talk about it right now."
