After wowing the audiences with his performance as ‘Senapathy' in director Shankar's 1996 directorial titled Indian, actor Kamal Hassan is set to return to the silver screen with the sequel ‘Indian 2' this year.

However; what's even more exciting is that Bollywood's latest villain Akshay Kumar is all set to play the baddie in the film opposite Hassan. The film's poster was released yesterday; on occasion of Pongal, and the poster has the viewers all intrigued.

But if rumors are anything to go by; it is believed that the role of the film's antagonist was originally offered to Ajay Devgan. However, the ‘Singham' actor could not take up the role due to prior commitments.

A source close to these developments was quoted saying," Both, Ajay and Kamal, were keen to collaborate on this film. However, for various reasons, including his prior commitments, Ajay couldn't come on board."

Meanwhile, while filming 2.0 Akshay and Shankar sir came close and post Ajay declining the role it became obvious that the Khiladi actor was the next choice.

The source further added, " Akshay and Shankar, who became good friends by the time 2.0 was wrapped, had reportedly spoken about working together again when something suitable came their way. And looks like that has happened soon after the film's release."

2.0, that hit the screens on November 29 last year, is the costliest Indian film ever made. The Hindi version of the film turned out to be a huge hit at the box-office with a collection of over Rs 189 crore to its credit.
