Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who thinks of the ace filmmaker, Mani Ratnam as her guru, will once again be united with the filmmaker for her upcoming film. Aishwarya has repeatedly worked with the Mani Ratnam over the years, with her first film in 1997, Iruvar. In her upcoming movie, Aishwarya will be seen playing the role of an antagonist in the adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan.

In her recent event in Chennai, Aishwarya spoke of her upcoming project with Mani Ratnam. She said, "You all already know. I am working with Mani guru, my guru, in Ponniyin Selvan. It is my honour and privilege to work with him any and every time, throughout my lifetime as an actor. I am really looking forward to it."

The film is making headlines ever since Aishwarya spoke of her association with it at Cannes 2019. It is also an official adaptation of Ponniyin Selvan and is also based on the Tamil classic of the same name. Aishwarya will essay the role the antagonistic wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, while the film will tell the story of Arulmozhivarman, one of the kings of the Chola dynasty during the 10th and 11th centuries. It is also reported that the film will star Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Vikram in important roles.

Meanwhile, the actress recently returned to Mumbai after a long vacay with Abhishek Bachchan and Aaradhya in New York. She and husband Abhishek were not only seen spending quality time with niece Navya Naveli Nanda but also seen chilling with Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt after visiting Rishi Kapoor at the hospital.

Aishwarya also recently made an appearance on Instagram after almost two months and shared a picture of an enthusiastic Abhishek cheering for his kabaddi team, the Pink Panthers. She captioned the picture as, "Attaboyz! Yaaaaay Pink Pantherrrsss! God blesssss." To which, Abhishek also replied, "Our lucky charm."
