Filmmakers venture into remaking films to enhance the cinematic experience that resonate commercial viability. With many remakes in the pipeline, many actors and filmmakers are taking the plunge to derive the essence from the original in the remake.

Akshay Kumar has brought a disparate choice of films in his entire 27 years of acting. With every film, the actor has brought a different experience to the audience with his roles. According to a report, Akshay Kumar, whose horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa had added to the limelight of the star is returning back to the genre for yet another remake. The film will be a Hindi adaptation of the Tamil horror comedy Kanchana: Muni 2.

About the same, a source informed a leading daily, "Akshay has been in talks for the Kanchana remake for a long time. The film's concept - horror laced with humour - appealed to him. But he had to schedule his dates for the project. He has finally given the movie a go-ahead and it's happening next year, mostly after he wraps up Good News opposite Kareena Kapoor Khan."

Adding further, the source said, "It will be directed by Raghava Lawrence who had written, helmed as well as played the lead role in the original. Akshay will portray his character, who gets possessed by a ghost. He knows the pulse of the audience and now with such movies doing great business, he wants to approach Kanchana in a different way and make it a much bigger film."

The film will bring the actor on board with the producer Shabina Khan, who had earlier produced Akshay Kumar's Rowdy Rathore. The source said, "Akshay and Shabina have remained friends. Although, there have been a lot of changes in the cast in the last few years, this called for a perfect reunion for the two. They are also working towards a sequel to their hit 2012 action comedy, which starred Sonakshi Sinha."

Revealing more about the project, another source said, "The Kanchana remake was initially picked up by Sohail Khan and Salman Khan was supposed to star in it. But that didn't work out. Then, Shabina bagged the rights and she was in talks with Ajay Devgn, but things didn't materialise. Now, it's finally happening with the Khiladi Kumar."
