Filmmaker Kabir Khan is all set to recreate the magic of Indian Cricket team's World Cup win in 1983 with his upcoming film which will feature actor Ranveer Singh in the role of former Indian Cricketer Kapil Dev. The film was officially announced a few days ago in which members of the World Cup winning squad were present at the event. Kabir's earlier release this year featuring Salman Khan, 'Tubelight' failed at the box office despite being released on Eid. The director recently opened up in an interview about moving on after Tubelight's debacle and focusing on his next project. The filmmaker is busy doing the research work for the film as it requires accurate portrayal and depiction because it's a sensitive subject.

"It's a mammoth project. A part of me just wants to know this beautiful story I have heard. It needs that kind of scale and research. We are dealing with a well-documented historic event, we are dealing with people, who are living legends," he said. The director doesn't consider it a challenge to work on a subject like this and was very happy to honour the team of 1983 at the announcement of the project. The Indian cricket team won the World Cup in 1983 as underdogs and Kabir wants to portray it on screen in a convincing manner.

Kabir is known for making emotions the prime focus of his stories which often have a political backdrop and it will be interesting to see how treats this emotional story of triumph.
