Last year, the protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat shook India. And now, this year director Abhishek Kapoor's Kedarnath is facing trouble as the movie gets banned in 7 districts of Uttarakhand.

Kedarnath movie starring Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput depicts the love story of a Muslim porter and a Hindu girl. The plot is set against the backdrop of disastrous 2014 Uttarakhand floods that claimed thousands of lives. Ever since the release of the trailer, priests from the city have been openly protesting against the release of the movie in the state. The protestors are alleging it to be the case of love-jihad.

Speaking to media, tourism minister Satpal Maharaj accuses the filmmakers to have a hidden agenda. "They claim they want to just show the destruction that happened, they don't tell us about their hidden agenda."

Satpal further added that Kedarnath, which is one of the "highest pilgrimage for Hindus" will be protected no matter what. "Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi prays to Kedarnath. We will not allow anyone to hurt these sentiments."
The minister also added that the filmmakers will have to pay a fine for false images or visuals of Kedarnath are used in the movie.

The districts where the movie is banned include Nainital, Haridwar, Uddham Singh District, Pauri, Almora, and Tehri.
