Every year International Women's Day is, observed on March 8. On this day people all over the world celebrate this day to acknowledge the work done by women. This year the theme is, ‘Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate For Change.' 

Though these words sound empowering the question arises does the society accept these changes? Women across the globe are harassed, humiliated, molested, they are a character is constantly being questioned and the list goes and on. But only a few gather the courage to speak up against the unjust.

Tanushree Dutta

Tanushree Dutta has hit the headlines when she accused veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar harassing her on the set of the film Horn 'Ok' Pleassss which released in 2008. She in her statement said, "I have been speaking about it for the last ten years. I want to say one thing, this is an allegation, this is not huge. It's happening rampantly everywhere. A lot of people are getting away with harassment. It's not huge. It's time to make this dialogue normal. Yes, this bugger troubled me, let's go after him. Let's make sure he doesn't do it again. Ten years back this was a taboo topic."

Vinta Nanda

In another shocking revelation director and producer Vinta Nanda opened up about being raped and harassed by her Tara co-star actor Alok Nath, this news came as a shock to everyone. 

Saloni Chopra

In a horrifying event model and actor Saloni Chopra bravely opened up about her story on social media . She blamed Bollywood director Sajid Khan of sexual and mentally harassing her. Saloni worked as Sajid Khan's assistant. The director was immeditely thrown out of his current projects including Housefull franchise. 

Pallavi Gogoi

A minister in center MJ Akbar, was accused of rape by journalist Pallavi Gogoi, who shared her experience about the same in a leading daily and said that Akbar who also happened to be her ex-boss at The Asian Age had assaulted her physically, emotionally and mentally. In an interview, she said, "Akbar said I could come to discuss the story in his hotel in Jaipur, far from Delhi. In his hotel room, even though I fought him, he was physically more powerful. He ripped off my clothes and raped me. Instead of reporting him to the police, I was filled with shame."

Kalki Koechlin

Margarita with a straw actress Kalki Koechlin too shared her #metoo story when she was a child. She said, "That was a battle I had to fight in the public eye-but, for me, it was much longer than what was seen in media. It's about therapy, about speaking to family, finding ways to get over it."


These are just a few brave names who dared to bare their heart and call out the names who tormented their lives, while there are many others who still haven't got the courage to address the black hole of their life.
