We as Indians love Maa Ke Haath Ka Khana. No matter how many gourmet or fancy food you eat at restaurants, you ultimately end up eating Ghar ka bana dal chawal. No food in the world can beat that. Mumbai is filled with budding career aspirants who hustling between their career and travelling.

They often skip home cooked food or even tiffin services. This very need of getting cheap and fast food led to the availability of many affordable restaurants and food delivery apps who don't burn your pocket. Even though these apps or street food manage to satisfy your hunger but they cannot guarantee you comfort. 


The Mumbai based food tech platform founded by Gurvinder Kochhar and her 29-year-old Gurmeet Kochhar run a platform since 2011 named SpiceBox! This is Mumbai's first food-commerce tiffin service that caters you delicious home-cooked food at your doorstep. With over 300 recipes of different cuisine to relish, SpiceBox! helps you prepare your own meal plan including both vegetarian or non-vegetarian. The meal plans are available in a calendar style subscription format.

Gurvinder Kochhar says, "Our aim at SpiceBox! is to serve our clients just like the way their mothers would do. Simple yet delicious home-style food with minimal oil & masalas. We keep in mind the kind of sedentary lifestyles we have started leading these days & plan our menus keeping the health of our clients in mind."

Gurvinder's son Gurmeet Founder and CEO, SpiceBox said, "Food is possibly one of the most unglamorous and difficult businesses. The model is difficult to crack and there are several dynamic variables at play that could go wrong. That is why there are many restaurants that start and shut down within a year of operations". 

Gurmeet gives the credit to his grandfather who came to Mumbai in 1947 as a refugee and opened his own business.
