The year 2018 has been a year of movies. With Padmaavat, Sanju, Badhaai Ho, and many others which set new box-office records, the year ended on a good note with Simmba becoming a blockbuster hit.

Well, while every genre was explored by the filmmakers in 2018, the year 2019 will be more into biopics. With 8 biopics releasing this year, let us take a look at them.

1. The Accidental Prime Minister: Based on the life story of former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh, The Accidental Prime Minister will see a plethora of actors. With Anupam Kher portraying the titular role, we will see Akshaye Khanna in the role of Manmohan Singh's media advisor Sanjaya Baru in the film.

2. Thackeray: The trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Thackeray is based on the life of Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray and throws light on his various aspects of life.

3. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi- Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is based on the life of Rani Laxmibai who fought for Swarajya and made her own name in history. The film also marks the debut of Television actress Ankita Lokhande.

4. Gully Boy: Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead has intrigued the audience enough with the posters. The film will tell the story of street rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy.

5. The Zoya Factor: Based on the novel by Anuja Chauhan, The Zoya Factor stars Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and South star Dulquer Salmaan in the lead. The film will release on April 5, 2019.

6. Shakeela: Richa Chadha unveiled the first look posters of Shakeela biopic a few months back. Shakeela, a woman known to create a stir in the South industry, was criticised for her choice of doing adults films in the '90s.

7. Saina Nehwal biopic: Shraddha Kapoor starrer Saina Nehwal biopic's release date is still not confirmed yet. The film throws light on the story of Indian Badminton player Saina Nehwal.

8. Gunjan Saxena biopic: The first look of Gunjan Saxena biopic starring Janhvi Kapoor in the titular role was released a few days back. Janhvi is all set to fly high as the pilot who helped in rescuing soldiers from the Kargil war of 1999.
