Thugs Of Hindostan, the big Diwali release of 2018 has finally hit the theaters and although the movie has earned more than 50 crores on day 1 in the domestic market and reached 100 crores worldwide, the film has received an unenthusiastic response from critics on its opening day.

Even with a shimmering cast comprising of Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh, the movie fails to deliver what was promised. So here are 5 reasons why Thugs Of Hindostan failed to impress the audience -

Conflicted Storyline - The movie opens itself with Fatima's character Zafira's introduction which tells how her parents were murdered by an evil British official. Then there is Khudabaskh Aazad who is hell-bent on freeing Raunakpur from East India Company and finally, we have Firangi Mallah who will sell his soul for money. The script fails to commit to any particular story, leaving the audience confused over whose story to follow - the princess', her guardian's or the conniving spy.

Shoddy Direction - Vijay Krishna Acharya's third directorial after Tashan and Dhoom 3 is a parade of lifeless characters with bad visuals. Acharya's actual crime lies in weak writing of every character other than Firangi Mallah. Mr.Bachchan's Azad has nothing to offer besides his towering personality and philosophical reasonings while Fatima did not utter a single word until the 40 mins! Katrina's blink and miss appearance do not add anything to the story. Overall, it was a poor execution by the director.

Wastage Of An Actor - Although Katrina is known for her dancing prowess, she has given some plausible performances in movies like Rajneeti, Fitoor, and Tiger Zinda Hai. But in TOH, the actress was completely wasted as a performer let alone an actor! Her flailing arms and random jerks of the upper and lower body makes for a sufferable watch.

Third Rate CGI - From its inception, Aamir Khan's Thugs Of Hindostan was conceptualized as a visual spectacle to be savored by the audience. But what was termed as a VFX treat proved anything but. Even video games have better CGI these days!

Deja Vu - From Harry Potter to Pirates Of A Caribean, the movie looks like it has been highly inspired by other films. Even the eagle who flocks around Azad reminds you of Amitabh Bachchan's Coolie. TOH had put legitimate claims of being India's answer to Pirates Of Caribean, but it isn't even a poor copy!
