Kalank is one of the prime examples of recent time that showcases how a huge a star cast with extraordinary performances, beautiful backdrop, amazing cinematography cannot save moving from dooming. Even though it managed to get the biggest opening days of 2019, the movie was able to rake in only 66.03 crores.

Despite the beautiful canvas, Karan Johar's magnum opus was the biggest disappointments of the year. However, the debacle of Kalank at the box-office taught us many lessons. Let's know what we are talking about.

Varun Dhawan's First Flop

With Kalank Varun Dhawan has given his first flop since his debut in 2012 with Student of the Year. Until now, he has been part of 12 films, out of each 11 movies were successful. We almost believed that Varun Dhawan cannot do anything wrong until Kalank happened to us. Unfortunately, with Kalank Varun Dhawan is all set to taste his first flop.

Outdated Storyline

Director Abhishek Varman's idea of representing a hero, who is najayas aulad of a courtesan, tries to seek revenge from his powerful father, but eventually changes his thought as he falls in love is a story of past. Film's plot is straight out of the 70s & 80s movies. Adding to that is a ton of melodrama, an overdose of songs, labour agitations which becomes too much for audiences to handle.

Alia's Choice Of Movies

Undoubtedly, Alia Bhatt is one of the best actresses of recent times. It is not just her effortless and natural acting, but also her movie selection that needs to be appreciated. In fact, Shandaar, which was Alia's biggest disappointment has an interesting storyline. However, Kalank proves that even Alia Bhatt is not immune to selecting wrong scripts.

Madhuri Dixit

It is really heartbreaking to say this but it is fact. Madhuri Dixit is the epitome of grace and beauty. It is not for no reason that she ruled our hearts and Bollywood for many decades. However, what she needs to understand is that '90s are over and she has yet not got the memo. Her way of acting that emanates 90s drama is out of place in today's modern Bollywood. Well, this is the harshest lesson that we learned from this movie but, that is how it is.

Aditya Roy Kapur

Well, everything is not lost with Kalank's demise. Despite its countless flaws, Kalank might be the most crucial film in Aditya Roy Kapur's career. Yes, it is true that we have always been a fan of Aditya Roy Kapur's dreamy looks and his charm, but it cannot be denied that the way he has unleashed himself as an actor is the best thing about this movie.
