Deepika Padukone was recently seen attending the 21st Edition of Jio MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival on October 13, 2019. She looked gorgeous in a black-and-blue polka dot dress, as she was the Chairperson of the Annual International Film Festival. At the festival, she also spoke about the different roles that she portrayed in the various films she worked in.

On being asked about the total number of films she starred in so far, Deepika revealed that she has never really kept a tab on the number of films she has done, but her priority has always been connecting with the work she has done. She stated that her acting process begins with the narration and sometimes as the narration is great, it never always translate into a great movie, but it does help her to visualise the story and the character.

Talking about her role as Veronica in her previous movie Cocktail, she revealed that she reread the script only to understand what director Imtiaz Ali thought. She was drawn to Meera, but she was actually ready for Veronica. It was Homi Adajania's sensibility toward this complex character, that empowered her to play the role. She revealed that when she was spontaneous in her takes, director Homi just stopped directing her. Deepika also stated that her role as Veronica helped her shed her inhibitions both as a woman and as an actor and further helped her explore a side of her that she never knew existed.

Further talking about the nightmare scene from Chennai Express, Deepika explained how her energy was completely off while shooting on that day. She also revealed that she could see how Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty were not too happy with the take and they were wondering how to make it work. Deepika admitted that comedy roles are tricky given when there are many actors on different wavelengths. She said, "One can’t prepare for scenes like these. It just happens spontaneously. But at the end of the day whatever you do with conviction becomes honest."
