While it is actually hard to believe that Warner Bros. are considering to loop Mel Gibson in as the director of the sequel of not so successful Suicide Squad, it just might be a blessing in disguise for the DC-verse.
2016 marked the arrival of some really bad guys who might be able to do something good. With David Ayer on the director's seat and a great cast including Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jared Leto as Joker, Suicide Squad debuted on the big screen.
While the film did okay on screen, sadly, it didn't meet any of our expectation. The film had its moments but having the typical DC movie problem of being rushed, the movie wasn't able to have the expected impact. We all know, DC comics and Warner Bros. are having a difficult to time put the DC-verse up and running and because of that, all the decisions are being seen with doubt including the decision of approaching Hacksaw Ridge director, Mel Gibson.
Yes, we are not saying that it is a great decision as the films done by Mel Gibson and his style is too different for something like Suicide Squad but, sometimes a change can be a good thing. We all thought that David Ayer was the best choice for Suicide Squad but unfortunately he couldn't do justice and with Mel Gibson, who is on the seventh sky after having so many nominations for Hacksaw Ridge starring Andrew Garfield, coming in this scene might just give the film the boost which is really needed to make this franchise a hardcore kickass action comedy.
People always say, "Do not judge the book by its cover,". No one can forget when Heath Ledger was approached for the role of Joker, he was scrutinized by the Joker fans but Heath Ledger gave his all for this character and rest as they call it, is History. We are not saying that this decision will turn out the same but, to think something out of the box is what DC-verse needs and this might be the first step towards it.
