Actor Ryan Gosling was awarded the Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) for his role in the movie ‘La La Land’ at the Golden Globe Awards held in California. The actor gave a heartfelt speech upon receiving the award on stage. Gosling thanked his girlfriend Eva Mendes, "I just would like to try and thank one person properly, and say that while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one the best experiences I've ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer," he said in his speech. "If she hadn't taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. Sweetheart, thank you," he said amidst applause.
Gosling garnered immense praise for his role in the Musical, which has been written & directed by Damien Chazelle. The movie’s plot revolves around a musician and an aspiring actress and their love affair in Los Angeles. La La Land first premiered at Venice Film Festival in August 2016 to a grand reception.
The movie, which also stars Emma Stone and John Legend alongside Gosling, has been the hot favorite at most award functions this season. Gosling is currently shooting for the sequel to the classic hit ‘Blade Runner’.
