Golden Globe 2017: George Clooney supports Meryl Streep and slams Donald Trump
George Clooney blasts Donald Trump over calling Meryl Streep ‘overrated’ after Donald Trump took to Twitter and said Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood
Money Monster star, George Clooney may not have attended the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday evening, but that does not mean he was not watching. While Clooney attended a reception which was hosted by The Clooney Foundation for Justice on Monday, he spoke about the President-elect’s recent comment done on the actress, Meryl Streep.
There are just days where Trump would be taking an oath and would be the new President of the United States of America. He tweeted series of comment which reads as, “Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn't know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes. She is a..... Hillary flunky who lost big. For the 100th time, I never "mocked" a disabled reporter (would never do that) but simply showed him....... "groveling" when he totally changed a 16-year-old story that he had written in order to make me look bad. Just more very dishonest media!”
In support of the Cecil B DeMille award winner for lifetime achievement, the Tomorrowland star, George Clooney said, "She's maybe the most overrated actress of all-time. She and I worked together on Fantastic Mr. Fox as husband and wife and I will tell you even as a fox, a female fox, she's overrated," he said with a smile. "Aren't you supposed to be running the country?" Clooney asked Trump. George continued by saying, 'Being a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton', the Ocean's Eleven star said, "I didn't vote for him, I don't support him, I don't think he's the right choice."
Of course, George is not the only star who has spoken out against the President-elect. Artists like Jesse Williams, John Legend, Lady Gaga, and Jennifer Lawrence have all openly worried about the fate of America.
