Singer Justin Bieber and Usher were slammed with $10 million copyright infringement lawsuit 4 years ago over their song 'Somebody to Love' which was released almost 7 years ago. The lawsuit was filed by R&B singer Devin De RIco Copeland and songwriter Mareio Overton in 2013 for the first time. The duo had accused Bieber and Usher of copying the title, time signature and beat which was similar to their track of the same name.
The duo had alleged in the lawsuit that their version of the song was given to Usher's mother in 2009 which lead to the plagiarism. The duo had earlier requested the court to let a jury decide if both the songs were similar or not. However a Judge dismissed their claims when they failed to prove that Bieber and Usher had access to the original.
The judge Allen dismissed the case without prejudice to ensure that it could not be brought up again.
