Actor Shahid Kapoor has come a long way since making his debut in the film industry back in 2003. In the initial days of his career, Shahid was often compared to Shah Rukh Khan but over the years the actor has created his own identity in Bollywood. This comparison bothered the actor initially but he eventually made peace with it and made his own space. "The worst thing that can happen to a newcomer is being compared to a big star or an established actor because it confuses him. It (comparison with SRK) did trouble me initially as I did not know what to do," Shahid said.

The actor spoke to the media on the occasion of IIFA 2017 and said that every artist needs to find himself and it is unfair to compare a newcomer with an established actor like Shah Rukh Khan. The actor went on to say that he feels very comfortable with himself these days and is busy discovering himself as an actor. Shahid believes that the audiences want to see good content these days, so it's very important to be a good actor in this age. The actor is aware that some of the bold choices that he makes as an actor may not eventually work at the box office or get a good response from the viewers but he moves on quickly.

Shahid is currently busy with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming period drama ‘Padmavati' in which he is sharing screen space with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
