Director Shakun Batra impressed everyone with his film ‘Kapoor & Sons' in which he portrayed the story of a dysfunctional family very well. Pakistani actor Fawad Khan garnered a lot of praise for his performance in the film and the director revealed that he is still in touch with the actor after he left the country during a controversy last year. The director was present at the IIFA awards and spoke to the media. Shakun said that he misses the actor and regularly talks to him. "I spoke to him yesterday. I miss him and I wish he was here. Last year, we both were here together at IIFA. Unfortunately, we all know what happened. In the long run, let's hope both the countries can again become friends and collaborate," he said.

The director has openly confessed his admiration for Fawad Khan on multiple occasions and feels that he is a great person as well as a wonderful collaborator. The director feels that anyone should be allowed to work in the country. Shakun feels that Indians travel and work all over the world and similarly it should be a two-way street for Pakistani artists as well.

Fawad has not returned to India after he left the country due to a controversy surrounding inclusion of Pakistani artists in Indian films during the release of the film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' last year. The actor has also not spoken about Bollywood openly in any of his interviews after he left the country.
