Raees Director Trolled For Saying Laal Singh Chaddha Boycott Is ‘Unfair’

Raees movie director Rahul Dholakia has defended Aamir Khan's film 'Laal Singh Chaddha'. His tweet is now inviting criticism.

The Internet is divided over Aamir Khan’s upcoming movie Laal Singh Chaddha. #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha has been trending on Twitter for the last few days. People recall Aamir Khan’s statement where he called India ‘an intolerant nation’ and said that his then-wife Kiran Rao didn’t feel safe here. They have also been slamming Aamir for his movie PK, which is said to be ‘hinduphobic’ in nature.

Rahul Dholakia, the director of Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Raees, has defended Laal Singh Chaddha and mentioned that its boycott is ‘unfair’.

He tweeted, “Trolling a film because a cast or crew members ideology differs from yours is unfair to the other hundreds who have worked hard to make the film. They have also pinned their hopes on the success of the film to help realizes their dreams. Spare a thought.”

As he defended Aamir Khan’s movie, people trolled him instead.

Check out a few replies to Rahul Dholakia’s tweet:

“No, a better industry will flourish and jobs will migrate because people still want to see films, not just from Bollywood.”

“Those who have worked already got paid. What copy paste logic is this everywhere.”

“Don’t give people a guilt trip for exercising their freedom to choose. Crew members also should have a conscience about the projects they pick. If they decide to work for someone who denigrates our own culture, don’t expect any sympathy when boycotts happen.”

“I understand that “the other hundreds who have worked hard to make the film” would have already been paid a flat fee, and have no financial stake in the film. They neither share in the financial success nor suffer due to any financial failure.”

“It’s about right or wrong, not ideology! If stars can hit the roads to oppose CAA , why can’t they do the sane against sar tan se juda! And didn’t he declared modi Ji guilty of Gujarat riots, judging the judges!”

Laal Singh Chaddha is the remake of Tom Hanks starrer Forrest Gump. Featuring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Naga Chaitanya, the film will release on August 11.
