Golden Globe Awards 2021 Gets Postponed Amid Coronavirus Crisis

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, many award shows and other major events are either being called-off or postponed. In the past few months events like Cannes and MET Gala, Tony Awards, Emmy Awards, Oscars 2021 has been postponed due to large gatherings. The recent award show to join the list is Golden Globe 2021.

Following the Academy’s move, other pillars of Hollywood’s awards season have also changed dates.

The Golden Globe Awards have been postponed by nearly two months. On Monday, The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Dick Clark productions, and broadcast partner NBC made the announcement that the 78th annual Golden Globe would be pushed further from the scheduled date and it will now be held on Sunday, February 28, 2021. The award ceremony will take place at Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills, California. The event was slated to happen in the first half of January 2021.

The Golden Globe will once again be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

Earlier last week, there was an announcement about the delay in the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards. The awards will now take place on April 11, two weeks before the Oscars.

For the unversed, this year’s BAFTA Awards took place on February 2, followed by Oscars on February 9. The 2019 BAFTA Awards fell on February 10, with Oscars following up on February 25.

Speaking of Oscars, it will now be held on April 25, 2020, rather than in the month of February. The award show will air at 8 p.m ET on NBC.
