The hit film of SRK, ‘Baazigar’ completed 30 years yesterday on November 12. This iconic film, released in the year 1993, was directed by Abbas and Mastan Burmawalla, starring Kajol and Shilpa Shetty along with Shah Rukh Khan. This movie was all special for many people connected to it as they shared their memories on the 30th anniversary of the film.
Baazigar was especially liked by people for its music. Music for the film was done by Anu Malik. ‘Mera Dil Tha Akela, Tune Khel Aisa Khela, Teri Yaad Mai Jaagu Raat Bhar’, this line is enough to recognize the music and the movie. Anu Malik shared his memories and stories attached to this film. He said that whenever he goes to any show or event, people still ask him to sing songs from Baazigar. He mentioned that these songs would always be special for him.
When he needed a good break in the industry as a young music composer, that time Baazigar music tracks came as an opportunity and his musicians coordinated with him to make this track a success. Producer Ratan Jain approached Anu Malik for the first time for this movie. Sharing one of the memories of recording, he said, “When we were recording this song with Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik, the song didn’t feel like a kick to me. I felt like something was missing and that time, on the spot, I wrote those lines which gave that song a complete touch. And everyone liked it.”
Before the release of the song, he did play that song to check the audience’s reaction on Juhu beach and people loved that song very much.
Kajol also shared a nostalgic post on social media. It was her second film and with SRK it was her first film. She was just 17 when she met Shah Rukh Khan. She shared some beautiful photos from the process of Baazigar, captioned it as, “#baazigar completes 30 years.. This set was a whole lot of firsts. The first time I worked with Saroj Ji, the first time I met @iamsrk . The first time I met @anumalikmusic and me all of 17 when I started the film. Abbas bhai and Mustan bhai actually treated me with all the indulgence of a favourite child. And how can I forget @therealxt , @iam_johnylever , @theshilpashetty. So many good memories and unstoppable laughter. To this day, every song and dialogue brings a huge smile to my face, Just because #30yearsofbaazigar”
This movie was loved by many and has given us a favourite duo of all time, “Shah Rukh and Kajol.”
